We have laid out a typical timetable for a Prague Workation in order to give you an idea what a month in the Czech capital has to offer and the services we can provide.
Preparation for your Workation starts long before you touch down in Czechia. You’ll be in touch with your Local Hero in Prague 1-2 months before departure, so we can get to know you and your preferences better. We want to make sure you get the most out of your time in Prague, so we’ll ask about your interests, what you want to see and do, eating choices, any equipment you’ll need, and what kind of work schedule you want to keep. We’ll provide you plenty ideas and suggestions for your free time.
Your Personalized Destination Guide Web App
After booking you will receive a personalized destination guide web app we’ve customized for your Workation. You’ll find a wealth of information in there about Prague, things to do, and the many services available to make your life easier. We also blog regularly about our Prague, covering a wide variety of topics of interest to anyone workationing there. If there’s anything you need more help with, just ask your Local Hero!
Arriving in Prague
Welcome to Czechia! Upon your arrival at Prague Airport, a driver will meet you and drive you to your apartment. The drive takes about 30 minutes. Depending on your arrival time your Prague Local Hero will meet you after you check-in, or the following morning. At this time they will provide you with a local SIM complete with data as well as a public transport pass to cover you for the duration of your stay.
You’ll appreciate the dedicated workspace in your apartment, and the reliable high speed wifi. We can arrange for an external screen or other tech accessories to increase your productivity. We will also stock your apartment with all the necessities (e.g condiments, bathroom essentials, cleaning supplies) to start your stay off smoothly. You’ll be pleased to note that weekly cleanings are included in the price.
Orientation Walk with Your Local Hero
Upon arrival, your local hero will help you get settled and show you around your new neighborhood. She will inform you about what this part of the city has to offer. You will be introduced to the local shops, bars, and restaurants as well as other facilities such as gyms, parks, and other entertainment based on your specific needs. She’ll also help you get a feel for your location and the connections to other parts of the city using your public transportation pass. She’ll even help you install some useful local apps. You’ll get information about other useful services like dry cleaning and food/grocery delivery. We will make sure you are well prepared to make the most of your Workation ahead!
During your stay in Prague
We’ve got you covered with endless additional ideas and services to make the most of your stay. You can request any of the optional extra tours, excursions and getaways to be added to your Workation package now, or at any point after booking.
Optional Extra: Co-Working Space
If you prefer the buzz of a workplace atmosphere, we can include a month’s co-working pass, with either a fixed desk assignment of flex-desk. Prague’s many co-working spaces mean we can help you pick one that suits you not just in terms of location but also the kind of people you’ll be sharing office space with. That makes it an ideal way to meet locals too.
Optional Extra: Gym Membership
We can include a month’s membership at a well equipped gym close to your apartment in your Workation package to help you keep up good habits from home.
If you’re already working with a personal trainer, you know how invaluable they can be to insure you maximize your workouts. We realize finding an English-speaking trainer who understands your needs isn’t always easy in Prague, so we’ve done our research. For an additional fee, we will arrange a private personal trainer for you to better keep in shape.
Learn a new skill or focus on your passion
We are able to arrange a variety of experiences which will both immerse you in the local culture and provide unforgettable memories. Prague is famous for it’s beer so we are happy to arrange anything beer related including the unique beer baths, beer sampling and beer making classes. Otherwise pick up a new language, perfect your favorite sport or try something new, discover your talent with dance or music lessons, indulge yourself in spa & wellness treatments or hire a business coach. The options are endless and we are happy to help you take full advantage of your time away.
Your first weekend: Getting to Know Prague
If you’ve been working hard all week, now is the time to appreciate your surroundings and mingle with the locals a little. Your local hero will already have pointed out some of the city’s popular spots for locals and foreigners. It being your first weekend, it’s time to do the touristy thing and we’ve got some suggestions for how to spend the whole day in and around Prague’s historic center. After a walking tour that’ll give you some historical and cultural background, we suggest ticking off a few more must-dos: a walk in the castle grounds and gardens topped off with a visit to a beer garden with the best views of the city. The following day you can get to know Prague, and Czech culture even better, by taking a Czech beer and small plates tour in a non-touristy neighborhood.
Optional Excursion: Prague Private Walking Tour
Prague’s UNESCO-listed city center is packed with stories, from the medieval to the more recent past. You’ll get your historical and geographical bearings on a private walking tour with an expert local guide. Admire the varied architectural styles, learn about the politics and the people, and maybe spot a few places to return to and explore in more detail, based on your interests.
Explore on your own after Your Tour: Prague Castle and Letna Park
Continue your day in Prague after the tour by continuing on to Prague Castle. This vast castle complex, the largest in the world, is not just home to the country’s president, it’s packed with various palaces, the country’s most significant cathedral: St Vitus, and the Hobbit-sized houses on Golden Lane. There are several tour routes offered.
It’s just a short walk from the Castle to Letna Park, one of the city’s biggest green spaces. Located on a plain overlooking the city, there are some killer views to enjoy and literally drink in, at the beer garden under the chestnut trees next to the park’s very own little chateau.
Optional Experience: Czech Beer & Small Plates Tour
The Czech Republic is a beer country. They drink more of the stuff per capita than anywhere else on earth, and with beer as good as theirs it’s easy to see why. Get a crash course in beer culture by joining this tour that will show why Prague is arguably the best city in the world for drinking beer. During the tour you will visit less touristy districts outside of the city center, tasting tasty “beer snacks” along the way!
Ideas for the rest of your Prague Workation
As the Czech capital, there’s not much you can’t find in Prague, so whatever your interests there is fun to be had. Situated almost in the center of the country, there are day trip opportunities in every direction. Dense road and rail connections to neighboring countries and cheap short flights to many other countries mean your weekend wanderings don’t need to be confined to Czechia either. We’ll help you make the most of your spare time here, so you go home with wonderful memories, and the satisfaction that you lived life to the fullest during your time here.
Optional Day Trips – Explore Bohemia
One of the most popular day trip destinations from Prague, Kutna Hora is most famous as the home of the “bone church” but that’s just part of the story. There’s much more to see in this one-time capital of Bohemia that got rich through silver mining. The classical Bohemian town square is complemented by a beautiful cathedral.
Just a short distance north of Prague is the typical Bohemian chateau at the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe rivers. The vineyards around the town are a clue that there’s wine in these parts. The chateau’s own labels are excellent examples of Czech white wines.
Make the Most of Your Time, Before and After Work
Czechs are sporty, and even in the city there are plenty of opportunities to up your game or learn a new sport with a professional instructor. Tennis is huge here and some one-on-one time with an instructor will set you back far less than at home. Fancy something more extreme? Train on a world-class canoe slalom course. Or get some serious wall time in at one of the city’s indoor or outdoor climbing walls.
If you’re the outgoing type, Prague’s networking scene is second to none. A large expat contingent and the high English level among Czechs make connecting with locals very easy. Expand your network, make friends, and learn more about life in Prague through one of the many networking & meetup groups in the city.
Optional Weekend Getaways
Surrounded by Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Austria, you could seriously up your countries-visited count with some weekend trips by train. Or you could stay in the Czech Republic and visit the elegant spa town of Karlovy Vary, or experience the magic of medieval Cesky Krumlov. Whichever direction you head, we can take care of everything, from transportation, accommodation and guides to dining recommendations.
With such an action-packed time, your month in Prague will fly by and sadly it’s time to leave. But where to? Back home? Or another Workation destination? And if you fell in love with the Czech lifestyle, we can hook you up with an immigration assistance agency, and even a realtor. Plenty to think about on the short ride to the airport, as our driver whisks you off for your departing flight.
